The Mt Shasta and McCloud areas are known for their picturesque mountain landscape.
Rare Lenticular clouds appear like a halo above the mountain. They appear formed from layers of condensation and are especially visible in the Spring and Fall.
The Mountain itself provides year round recreation. The slopes are popular with climbers, snowboarders, and skiers. The Mt Shasta Ski Resort is a great place for beginners and advanced skiers/snowboarders alike. visit www.skipark.com for more information
Castle Crags State Park is a well known landmark and wonderful place to hike or climb.
If you are in search of waterfalls, you are in the right place! No matter your level of adventure, there are ample falls to enjoy in both McCloud and Mt Shasta. The three McCloud Falls (Lower, Middle and Upper) are a 15 minute drive from the cabin and are accessible by car or light hiking from one to the next. Burney Falls, Mosbrae Falls, and Faery Falls are a few more popular spots that offer striking views and serene experiences.
Other natural features include lava tubes, rivers, lakes and glaciers. Among the most popular are Lake Siskiyou, Castle Lake, Lake McCloud, and the head waters of the Sacramento River. All are great for fishing or just relaxing in the clear, calming waters.
